Do you have the slightest idea of what your retirement life would be? If not, then there are a couple of steps ahead where you can be noticed before actually plunging in the retirement phase.
- It’s always good to plan ahead. Make sure you know what you are actually retiring to. Make researches and study about retirement a couple of years before your retirement date. This will make you internalize the idea of retirement and thus making you able to function well and not drastically when the time comes.
- Prepare for your retirement, if you have mortgages to pay off, pay them; if you have debts to pay, pay them; If there are certain household fixtures that would need fixing, fix them. It is always good to relieve yourself from other worries and just basically focus on your retirement.
- Do your homework, go to the library if you need to and start doing your retirement homework like financial planning and the likes of it. The things that seem necessary to know before you retire.
- If you would want to travel, make plans before you reach the age of 75. Jot the things that would have to do including the places where you would need to go and make sure you are of a certain age when you still feel that you are capable of such. No one wants to be sickly in a foreign country right?
- Take a sabbatical leave for a couple of months, years before your actual retirement date. If you get the drift of having to rest or be away from work that long, then this will initiate that you are most probably ready to retire.
- If you are to choose a date of retirement, as much as possible chose a date that is the end of the month. This means that the inflation index shall only start one year after in the month that follows the month of your retirement.
